HSBC Arena renamed to First Niagara Center

HSBC first sold all their banking branches throughout New York State to First Niagara bank. Now, only a few weeks later, HSBC also has sold their naming rights to the Sabre's home. First Niagara purchased the naming rights for the next 15 years. All the signs both inside and outside of the area are expected to be changed by October. The financial terms of the deal aren't currently known.

This is the third name that the area has had - originally called Marine Midland area, the area was renamed to HSBC Area after HSBC purchased Marine Midland bank. The area was named HSBC area in 1999.

Hockey Season is almost here!

So, I haven't updated this blog in ages, but I finally decided to do so today. I highly doubt anyone still reads this, but it's time to try to bring back some readers. The hockey season is nearly here, and this will be the first full year with Pegula as the owner. I think this will be a promising season for the Sabres. The regular season record that the Sabres had after Pegula took over last season was good being 16–4–4.

The first preseason game is on September 19th, 7PM at home against the Hurricanes. Check back for future updates and news.
